Couchbase installation and upgrade

Prerequisites

  • Consult the Couchbase support matrices page to ensure your Delphix Continuous Data Engine is on a version compatible with the Connector version of choice.

  • Install Couchbase binaries on the source, staging, and target servers.

Downloading the connector

The connector is provided as a downloadable .json file from the Delphix download site. Use the steps below to download it:

  1. Navigate to the Delphix Download portal by clicking the following link or entering https://download.delphix.com/ into the address bar.

  2. Login to the download portal using the same email and password credentials used for Delphix Support.

  3. Navigate to Delphix Product ReleasesContinuous Data ConnectorsCouchbasev1.x.x.x -> sc_couchbase_v1.x.x.x.json and the download should automatically begin.

Installing the connector

  1. Login to the Delphix Management application.

  2. Navigate to Manage Plugins.

  3. Click the + icon to upload the connector file.

  4. This step shows the Upload or upgrade a plugin dialog. Upload the sc_couchbase_v1.x.x.x.json file downloaded previously.

For more information, refer to the Continuous Data Engine connector management section.

Upgrading the connector

The procedure for upgrading to a higher connector version is the same as installing a new CouchbaseDB connector. Repeat the previous steps using the .json file corresponding with the version being upgrade to.

After uploading the new connector version file

  1. Refresh all (corresponding) environments.

  2. Ensure a connector discovery is completed successfully.

  3. Take a new snapshot of the dSource and VDB.

While updating a connector, it is not required to disable and re-enable datasets.

To upgrade to newer versions of the CouchbaseDB connector, the upgrade path as given below must be followed.

Connector upgrade path: 1.2.0 -> 1.2.2

Upgrading Couchbase version on source, staging, and target host

If the Couchbase version at the staging or target host changes, the staging database and target database have to be recreated.

If the existing staging database or target database is refreshed with an upgraded installation, the database might not function properly.
